Breast enlargement

What is breast enlargement

Breast enlargement is a procedure designed to increase the overall size of the breasts. It involves placing a prosthesis (implant), through an incision, either under the mammary gland or behind the pectoral muscle.

Saline and silicone implants are used for breast enlargement.

Choosing the right implant

Prior to a breast enlargement procedure, your general health condition and figure must be evaluated. By consulting with Dr Chagnon, you will be able to determine the type and volume of implant that are right for you.

What results can I expect from a breast enlargement procedure?

Breast surgery is effective for:

  • Correcting loss of breast volume following pregnancy
  • Correcting breast asymmetry
  • Reconstructing a breast following breast surgery
  • Enhancing the figure of women who consider their breasts to be too small

From week to week, the results will seem increasingly natural; however, it may be a few months before your breasts achieve their final shapely form.

What happens during the procedure?

Generally, the surgery is performed using a local anesthetic with sedation. The procedure lasts a little over an hour.

Incisions are made at the natural creases beneath the breasts. The scars where the incisions were made are very discreet, following the healing process.

You must allow at least one week of convalescence before returning to work. A little more time is needed if your job requires repeated arm movements.
