Your face

Your face reflects your state of health, your vitality, and your well-being. Take good care of it!

Your face

Your face mirrors your soul

As the most visible part of your body, your face reveals many intimate details: your feelings, of course, but also your age. Generally, the first signs of aging or “expression lines” appear at about 35 years of age.

Botox and wrinkle filler injections: soften and offset the effects of time

Though expression lines reflect our life experience, many women view them with some distress. Many simply don’t want their life story etched on their face.

Fortunately, effective means of slowing down the appearance of expression lines are now available.

Botox injections

Botox injections are a proven and popular method of looking more youthful and better rested, as if returning from vacation.

Wrinkle filler injections

As a complement to Botox, facial or wrinkle fillers also help to conceal wrinkles and lines for a youthful and healthy look.

How do wrinkles and fine lines develop?

Various factors account for the development of wrinkles and fine lines.

  • First, with aging, the dermis (the deepest layer of skin) weakens and no longer supports the epidermis (the visible layer of skin) as effectively. As a result, skin is less resistant to warping effects, and lines appear on the face.
  • Repeated facial movements cause lines to appear. Every smile, frown, and scowl creases the skin. When the same line appears thousands of times, fibres in the skin weaken, and the skin loses its capacity to remain smooth.

The places where wrinkles appear depend on each person’s personality, personal history, and lifestyle. However, there are facial areas where expression lines tend to appear.

Crow’s feet

These very common wrinkles appear at the outer corner of the eye, and are due to smiling.

Glabellar lines

This V-shaped wrinkle appears between the eyebrows. It is due to repeated frowning and projects a look of worry or stress.

Worry wrinkles

These are horizontal lines that cover much of the forehead. They are due to worried expressions and repeatedly raised eyebrows.

Wrinkles around the lips

Many fine lines may appear around the mouth since this is a particularly mobile part of the face where skin is fragile.

Marionette lines

These are lines that extend from the outer corner of the mouth toward the chin, creating clefts of varying length. These wrinkles tend to give the face an expression of sadness and bitterness.

Bunny lines

These are horizontal lines that form across the ridge of the nose as a result of contracting muscles around the nose when expressing disgust, for example.
